MANHATTAN – In what looked and felt a lot like an official visit by a working member of the Royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle joined City Schools Chancellor Meisha Porter and a group of children in Harlem for an afternoon reading session in the schoolyard of PS 123 to promote literacy that included hugs and heckling from anti-vaxxers
Prince Harry sat on the floor with the kids as his wife Meghan read from her children’s book, ‘The Bench.’ Afterward, the Royals gave out too many hugs to count and took a class photo with boys and girls they met today.

Neighbors stood on the sidewalk, watching through the fence— thrilled that children on their block were getting to participate in this special event with the Royals.

Harry and Meghan’s school visit on West 140th Street didn’t come without trouble though— a small group of anti-vaccination activists with signs— including one calling President Joe Biden a pedophile— and a megaphone shouted a steady stream of Covid-19 disinformation the entire time Prince Harry and Meghan were at the school.

The Royal couple, who are in town to promote Covid-19 vaccinations at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on Saturday, is staying at the Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side.

This morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left through the hotel’s garage on East 76th Street near Madison Avenue around 11:30 am— their motorcade consisting of two black gas-powered Land Rovers.
