MANHATTAN – Chip City’s highly anticipated new cookie shop opened its doors for the very first time and found dozens and dozens of eager Upper East Siders lined up, waiting on the sidewalk along Second Avenue to get a their sugar fix.
The line for the Chip City’s grand opening is so long, it stretches almost a block long from the stores entrance near East 80th street, to around the corner of East 81st Street.

Upper East Site spoke to customers whose sweet tooth brought them out to Chip City’s new shop at 10:45 am— fifteen minutes before the store even opened— and they were still waiting an hour later, though at the front of the line by that point.

“So glad the UES is excited to have Chip City in the neighborhood,” said Chip City marketing director Mindi Sachs, “we’re so happy to be a part of the community!”
Though not everyone was as excited about today’s grand opening.

While chatting with customers this morning, an elderly woman approached us and asked what was causing all the commotion on the block. When we told the woman it was a new cookie shop opening, her reply was “AND???”

Unimpressed, the elderly woman spun around and made her way down the block in the opposite direction.
