MANHATTAN – An elderly Upper East Side woman has died from her injuries, after being struck by an electric scooter on Third Avenue in East Harlem a day earlier, police said Tuesday.
Investigators say 86-year-old Mehri Hekmati was walking southbound on Third Avenue around 4:50 pm Friday afternoon, attempting to cross East 104th Street, when a 35-year-old woman riding an electric scooter going the wrong-way slammed her.

Hekmati was in the middle of the crosswalk at the moment of impact— sending the senior citizen tumbling down hard on the pavement as seen in surveillance video obtained by the New York Daily News.

Hekmati, was rushed to nearby Metropolitan Hospital on East 97th Street in critical condition, and was later transferred to Bellevue because of the severity of her injuries, police said.

Just after 11:00 pm Saturday night, Hekmati, who lived on East 69th Street in Lenox Hill, passed away from her injuries.

No arrests have been made, however, NYPD says its investigation is ongoing.
