MANHATTAN – A section of a quiet Upper East Side block is now crime scene, yellow tape blocking off the area in front of an auto repair shop on East 95th street in Yorkville where a grisly shooting unfolded around 9:30 Monday morning.
Police confirm to Upper East Site a 33-year-old man was shot in the head and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 43-year-old man was also shot in his back, police say he was taken to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornel Medical Center, but his condition is not known.

A witness on the scene at NYC Auto Inc. between First and Second Avenues said he saw one of the victims– blood gurgling from his mouth as he lay on the floor bleeding after being shot– the other victim, he says, was around the corner and could not be seen.

Four of the repair shop’s workers were lined up on the sidewalk across the street from the garage, an investigator on scene told Upper East Site they are witnesses to the crime.
Police say the murder suspect fled the scene in a blue SUV– possibly a Chevy Traverse– and the shooting’s motive is not known.

The principal for the Trevor Day School approached the crime scene tape and called out to officers asking whether the school should be on lockdown– an officer came over to speak with him– its not clear what he was instructed.

This is a breaking story, stay with Upper East Site for developments throughout the day.
