A famous Italian chocolatier known for their gourmet candies and decadent gelato is set to open its newest brick and mortar store on the Upper East Side. The new ice cream and chocolate shop will become Venchi’s fifth so-called ChocoGelateria in Manhattan and the seventh in the United States.

From its humble roots in Turin, Italy dating back to 1878, when 20-year-old founder Silviano Venchi spent his savings on two bronze cauldrons to experiment with chocolate, Venchi has grown into an international award-winning chocolate purveyor, now boasting 350 chocolate recipes and 90 gelato flavors sold at more than 150 locations worldwide.

Made fresh in-house at its shops every day, Venchi says its gelato is crafted from only the finest natural ingredients, including fresh milk, fruits, Peidmont hazelnuts, green pistachios, Sorrento lemons and Sicilian almonds.
To keep things fresh, a brand new gelato flavor is introduced each month.

Upper East Site has confirmed that the chocolatier is planning to add a new Lenox Hill shop to its footprint, leasing space at 1117 Lexington Avenue, near the corner of East 78th Street. Venchi is the second tenant announced for the retail space inside the luxury condominium building just constructed at 150 East 78th Street.

“Venchi is excited to become a part of the prominent Upper East Side community and we look forward to joining the wonderful variety of luxury epicurean, fashion, home, design, and other retail brands,” said Davide Cravero, CEO of Venchi US.

In addition to candies and gelato, the new Venchi boutique will also offer authentic Italian coffees, fresh crepes with their Suprema chocolate hazelnut spread, a chocolate fountain and hot chocolate — putting the shop in direct competition against Angelina Paris next door.

Last month, Upper East Site reported that the world-renowned patisserie, which also serves famously decadent cup of hot chocolate, plans to open it’s latest shop at 1115 Lexington Avenue by mid-January.
Venchi is expected to open its doors on the UES next spring. If you cant wait until then, their closest ChocoGelateria is on the Upper West Side.
