Village Square Pizza Starts Slinging Slices on the UES

Downtown pizza has never tasted so good and thankfully you don’t need to go all the way downtown to get a slice anymore. Village Square Pizza has finally arrived on the Upper East Side and it’s time to get lost in the sauce — the highly anticipated new pizzeria opened to hungry customers on Friday.

Slinging slices since 2019, Village Square Pizza is best known for — you guessed it — square slices topped with piles of pepperoni, with or without Mike’s Hot Honey, depending on whether you want a little extra kick.

On the pizzeria’s straightforward menu, you’ll also find favorites like their vodka square, buffalo chicken square and, of course, the classic Sicilian — which comes topped with their rich and tangy, but not acidic tomato sauce and just the right amount of mozzarella.

Pizza purists should not fret, it’s not all squares at Village Square Pizza — The Classic and the Margherita are hand-tossed round pies cut into eight glorious triangle-shaped slices.

They’ve even come up with three different 100% plant-based pizza options for vegans, including the Bruschetta Square — which tastes like a giant piece of bruschetta with chopped tomatoes and fresh basil — as well as the Vegan Square, topped with roasted mushrooms, peppers and onions.

Don’t sleep on the Eggplant Square either — covered with fried eggplant hand-crushed tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil — it is also available with fresh mozzarella on top.

Village Square Pizza’s hours on the Upper East Side are 11:00 am to 9:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturdays.
