The Velveeta Cheese Martini Taking the UES by Storm

Outrageously cheesy is how they describe it and they’re right on the money— the drink of the summer has arrived. The Veltini, a Velveeta cheese-infused vodka martini garnished with mac and cheese is not a drink that Upper East Siders need, it’s a drink Upper East Siders deserve— and you’ll find it served right in Lenox Hill.

“As we look to summer, one of life’s greatest pleasures is enjoying summer sips during golden hour,” said Kelsey Rice, Senior Brand Communications Manager for Velveeta.

“We wanted to find a way to elevate this experience for our fans even further, by bringing the rich, creamy goodness of Velveeta to a martini in a unique and unexpected way for the ultimate outrageous pleasure.”

So, Velveeta teamed up with BLT Restaurants to create the intriguing abomination, which is served at both of the hospitality group’s Manhattan establishments.

However, you’ll have to stop by BLT Prime, located at 1032 Lexington Avenue, between East 73rd and 74th Streets on the Upper East Side, or BLT Steak, located at 106 East 57th Street, near the corner of Park Avenue, in Midtown between 5:00 pm 8:00 pm, during the so-called ‘golden hour,’ to try the Veltini— those are the only hours it is served.

“We worked closely with the brand to make this vision a reality, balancing the flavors of a typical martini with the nostalgic cheesy flavor we all know and love from Velveeta, and are excited for fans to experience this delicious over-the-top cocktail,” said Scott Cronin, Senior Vice President at BLT Restaurant Group.

So what’s inside the cheesy concoction?

The Veltini starts with Velveeta-infused vodka, add olive brine and vermouth, then garnished with a cheese drip and a cocktail pick with Velveeta stuffed olives and Jumbo Velveeta Shells & Cheese.

The bizarre mash-up isn’t a first— almost a year ago exactly, on July 14th, 2021 Upper East Site wrote about the limited edition Kraft Macaroni and Cheese ice cream released by Van Leeuwen.

Last year’s promotion by Kraft— which owns Velveeta— lead to long lines of New Yorkers waiting for a cheesy pint of ice cream at Van Leeuwen shops around the City.

The flavor, while not delicious, had it moments— hopefully, the Veltini, which is now available for $15, doesn’t miss the mark.
