MANHATTAN – The seven candidates running to succeed Council Member Ben Kallos for the City Council District 5 seat convened again last night for a debate, and the first topic discussed is one that is top-of-mind for many New Yorkers: Policing and Public Safety.

The East 72nd Street Neighborhood Association (E72NA) organized the event, the second debate it has hosted among the candidates: Kim Moscaritolo, Billy Freeland, Tricia Shimamura, Marco Tamayo, Chris Sosa, Julie Menin and Rebecca Lamorte.

Cameron Koffman, director of community engagement for the E72NA, noted why it was important to begin with the topic of policing and public safety.
