Carrie Bradshaw just can’t stay away from the Upper East Side. Sarah Jessica Parker’s famous character returned to the neighborhood Thursday morning to film another scene for the second season of HBO’s the Sex and the City revival ‘And Just Like That.’ This time around, the iconic Lexington Candy Shop served as part of the film set.

In a social media post, Lexington Candy Shop alerted customers Thursday morning that the nearly century old establishment would be closed for photo shoot. However, outside the restaurant, located at the corner of East 83rd Street and Lexington Avenue, it was easy to see that there was much more than a photo shoot underway.

A large crane held a spotlight pointed downward at the sidewalk, lighting the scene as camera operators, production assistants and stage hands worked to keep nosy crowds on each corner across the street from appearing in the background of their shots.

In the scene, SJP’s Carrie steps out of the old school luncheonette with Che Diaz behind her — Miranda Hobbes’ new love interest, played by Sara Ramirez. The two are mid-conversation as Parker, 57, saunters out of the restaurant wearing a Vivienne Westwood teddy long coat, Ramirez behind her dressed in grey and black with Bottega boots.

The pair continued their conversation as they walked down East 83rd Street toward Park Avenue. The film shoot stopped about halfway down the block before resetting everything, including a fake UPS delivery worker pushing packages past Lexington Candy Shop, for another take.

Show creator Michael Patrick King told Vanity Fair last summer that the Che character — a non-binary podcaster and comedian who has become a polarizing figure among fans — would play a larger role in the HBO Max hit show’s second season.

“One of my burning passions about Season 2 is Che,” King explained, “I want to show the dimension of Che that people didn’t see, for whatever reason—because they were blinded, out of fear or terror.

“I want to show more of Che, rather than less of Che,” King added.

This is the first time Upper East Site has spotted Sara Ramirez on set when ‘And Just Like That’ has filmed on the Upper East Side.
Last November, both Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon — who plays Miranda Hobbes — were seen filming near the corner of East 74th Street and Madison Avenue. In the scenes shot that day, Carrie walked down a sidewalk laughing and smiling during a conversation on her cell phone.
‘And Just Like That’ is expected to return to HBO Max this summer, however a premiere date has not yet been yet.
