Upper East Site is seeking a Full-Time Reporter/Editor to join our growing team of journalists on a three-month contract. Following the successful completion of the contract term, the Reporter/Editor may be offered an extension or a full-time staff position.

The Reporter/Editor will be responsible for writing 10 to 15 articles per week and should be comfortable working in the field, cultivating sources and generating original stories within the neighborhood.

Our ideal candidate is a driven, self-starting storyteller with at least three years writing or reporting about New York City and can fill in for our Editor as needed. Photography and social media skills are preferred.

Those with newsroom experience outside NYC are also encouraged to apply.

Upper East Site is a fast-growing, independent and non-partisan local news source known for its hard-hitting coverage of the Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill and Yorkville neighborhoods of Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Responsibilities Include

  • Generating original story ideas daily
  • Writing 10 to 15 stories per week
  • Turning around articles quickly
  • Promote articles through social media
  • Cultivate sources in the community
  • Fill in for Editor as needed

Compensation

This position is for a three-month full-time contract at the rate of $4000/month.
