Spring has sprung here on the Upper East Side and as we usher in warmer temperatures and outdoor activities, Polletto Chicken & Sangria — the new Italian rotisserie spot in Yorkville known for its crisp birds and hearty sides — is expanding their hours with new mouthwatering lunch specials.

Two months after its grand opening at 1631 Second Avenue, between East 84th and 85th Streets, Polletto’s wood-fired chicken will now be available starting at noon — a full four hours earlier than the restaurant’s original hours.

Polletto’s tender rotisserie chickens, served by the half or whole, are slow-cooked in house, right behind the counter, so customers know exactly what they’re getting.

Fresh-made sides included potatoes and Brussels sprouts roasted underneath the wood-fired chicken, which bastes the veggies with its juices as they cook. Potato lovers rejoice — French fries, truffle fries and mashed potatoes are also available — while creamed spinach, creamed corn, mac ’n cheese round out the side dishes.

The full menu will be available starting at noon each day, however, from opening until to 4:00 pm, Polletto will also offer two lunch specials — a chicken salad sandwich crafted from their tasty rotisserie and topped with bacon for just $10 or a quarter chicken served with fries or a salad for $12.

Owner Fabio Casella, who also owns the popular San Matteo restaurants, tells Upper East Site after their two-month rollout, they’ve made sure Polletto will be able to handle the lunch rush — because their slow-cooked chicken can’t be rushed.

Chicken is only half the story at Polletto — but, don’t worry — if you choose to wash down lunch sipping a glass of fresh, tasty homemade sangria, they won’t tell anyone.
