Investigators have released surveillance images of the suspect wanted for a vicious crime inside an Upper East Side subway station last week that left a 55-year-old man beaten with a gash on his face so nasty that police initially believed the bloodshed to be the result of a slashing.

Around 5:40 pm last Thursday, May 4th, during the busy evening rush, police say the suspect started an argument with the victim aboard a southbound (6) train at the 77th Street-Lexington Avenue station in Lenox Hill. Then things turned physical.

Police say it was at the station that the violent criminal pummeled the 55-year-old victim in his head and face with some unknown object, splitting the man’s left cheek open to the point where detectives told Upper East Site last week authorities believed the suspect slashed him with a blade.

The victim was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital’s emergency department, sitting directly above the subway station, in stable condition, according to police.
NYPD officers flooded the area surrounding the hospital following the assault, with officers seen canvassing above ground and on the subway station’s downtown platform.

The suspect fled from the scene topside, police say, and was caught on camera in surveillance video released by the NYPD on Wednesday afternoon, nearly a week after the brutal attack.

Upper East Site visually verified the suspect’s location in the surveillance video as 829 Park Avenue, between East 75th and 76th Streets, a block south of Lenox Hill Hospital.

Detectives describe the suspect as a man in his early-to-mid 30s with a medium build, last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jeans and white sneakers.

Where’s the outrage? Seeing the picture of the suspect, I can only imagine the race of the victim. I guess that’s okay when it’s reversed. Yes sarcasm and extreme anger.
