MANHATTAN – The signage is up and it appears that Lululemon’s massive new Upper East Side store is on track to open this Spring— bringing new jobs and a bustling retail presence to the East 86th Street corridor. Now, Upper East Site has a first look inside the sprawling new store which had been vacant for more than a year.
Inside the popular athletic wear manufacturer’s new UES store, located at the corner of East 86th Street and Third Avenue, some clothes can already be seen hanging on display along the outer walls.

Mannequins for the men’s section are stationed on the left, while the women’s section is located on the right side of the store.

Construction is still underway inside the new Lululemon though, with workers seen putting up sheetrock around load-bearing columns inside the store’s large open space.

Those very same building columns are also being utilized to showcase ‘Mirror,’ Lululemon’s high-tech interactive home gym disguised as a full-length mirror— it’ll set you back at least $1,500 and requires a subscription costing $39 a month.

Right now, it’s not clear whether Lululemon will only occupy the first floor or both the first and second as did the prior tenant, Banana Republic. However, it does appear that the new UES store is part of a relocation of Lululemon’s current Madison Avenue shop near East 85th Street.

The popular sportswear retailer’s website no longer includes the Madison Avenue location, and that store’s phone number is now included in the website listing for the new store at the corner of East 86th Street and Third Avenue.

Upper East Site has reached out to Lululemon to see if they have an opening date and whether there are any other details to share about the new Yorkville store at this time. We’re waiting to hear back.
