An elderly man was assaulted in a random attack on the Upper East Side and the NYPD is hoping the public can track down the suspect.
Investigators say it was back on Monday, November 28th, at around 6:20 am when the suspect roughed-up a 72-year-old man who was simply walking down the sidewalk near the corner of Third Avenue and East 81st Street in Yorkville.
The suspect came up on the senior citizen and punched him in the chest a singe time, in what police say was a completely unprovoked attack.

The 72-year-old victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Late Thursday, the NYPD released a single surveillance photo of the suspect, who appears to be entering the 7-Eleven store located just a block away from the assault, at the corner of East 82nd Street and Third Avenue. It is not clear whether the image is from before or after the attack.

The suspect was last seen in jeans and a dark colored hoodie under a sweatshirt featuring an American flag and the words ‘New York City.’ He was also carrying a backpack.

Misdemeanor and felony assaults on the Upper East Side have increased 11% this year compared to last, according to NYPD data, with a total of 539 reported in 2022.
