Dead Man Found with Head Wound Inside UES Luxury High-Rise

A luxury Upper East Side high rise has become the scene of a possible homicide, after police say NYPD officers responding to a call for help about an assault discovered a man with a head wound, who was later pronounced dead.

The unnerving scene unfolded Monday morning after 9:30 pm in one of Normadie Court’s four towers — located at 225 East 95th Street between Second and Third Avenues in Yorkville — when a 911 call came about an assault a 16th floor apartment, police confirm to Upper East Site.

When officers got to the building, the NYPD says they found a 39-year-old man on the floor in a building hallway, unconscious and unresponsive with visible trauma to his head.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld until his family is notified, was rushed by paramedics to nearby Metropolitan Hospital, on East 97th Street and Second Avenue, where he was officially pronounced dead.

Built in 1986, Normandie Court is a sprawling luxury development with nearly 1,500 units and a 24-hour concierge — where studio apartment leases currently start at over $3,000 a month.

The NYPD tells Upper East Site that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will ultimately determine the exact cause of death, however, their investigation remains ongoing.

Update (10/21): The NYPD says that detectives do not suspect foul play in the man’s death.
