A dead man whose body was found in Central Park last September was strangled by his killer, NYPD investigators confirmed to Upper East Site Friday morning.
Elvis Garcia, who had not been identified publicly by police since his slaying, was found dead the morning of September 22, 2021 in a meadow behind the Central Park Zoo near East Drive and the 65th Street Transverse.

At the time, police told Upper East Site that the death of the 26-year-old homeless man, who was found unresponsive, lying face up with a rope tying around his neck— appeared to be suspicious in nature.
Friday morning’s announcement by the NYPD confirms Mr. Garcia was a victim of foul play within Central Park.
Garcia’s cause of death was determined by the Medical Examiner’s office to be asphyxia, police said. He was apparently suffocated with the rope found tied around his neck.
