MANHATTAN – For six years the co-chairs of the East River Esplanade Task Force, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-12) and Council Member Ben Kallos (D-5) have been trying to secure funds for repairs to a stretch along the East River Esplanade from 81st Street to 90th Street, known as John Finley Walk.

Today, joined by community board leaders and civic groups, they applauded the city’s announcement of $80 million towards renovation and repair.

Kallos said that on his first day on the job as Council Member in 2014, the Congresswoman told him they had to work together to rebuild the Esplanade.
