MANHATTAN – A Revel rideshare Tesla and a souped-up Audi with the license plate ‘Lef [sic] 4 Dead’ were among four cars involved in a chain-reaction crash on the FDR Drive near East 77th Street on the Upper East Side just before noon, sending at least one person to the hospital for their injuries and leaving a young UES couple and their baby shaken up after the collision.
The couple, who was riding in the blue Revel rideshare Model Y, tells Upper East Site the driver was just explaining to them how the roads are becoming more dangerous when another car slammed into them from behind— though it’s not clear which one— and within seconds the Tesla was smashed against the black Audi in the highway’s left lane.
The young couple was not treated for any injuries at the scene but told Upper East Site they planned to have their infant checked out by a doctor right away.
One man was seen being placed inside an ambulance wearing what looked like a neck brace, though it’s not clear which vehicle he was driving or a riding in as a passenger. Through the open back doors, he was seen using his cell phone while strapped to the gurney inside the ambulance.
Once the baby blue Tesla was moved, the Audi’s mangled front passenger side rim and wheel were visible— bent in a direction they’re not supposed to go.
A review of City traffic violation data by Upper East Site reveals the black Audi with the ‘Lef [sic] 4 Dead’ license plates has racked up a whopping thirty school zone speed camera violations over the past year, as well as two summons for failure to stop at a red light.
A decal on the car’s windshield reads ‘Your bitch [is] probably in here.’
A silver Hyundai sedan, driven by a woman in her twenties who was visibly distraught after the highway crash, as well as a for-hire black minivan sustained serious damage in the crash and had to be towed away from the scene on a flatbed truck.
City traffic summons data shows the grey Hyundai has five school zone camera and two red light camera violations since 2019, while the Revel rideshare Tesla has two school zone speed camera violations.
The black minivan has no speeding or red light camera violations on record.
The NYPD did not immediately have further details on the crash investigation.
